Streets and walls full of photos help evoke the climate of the war years and authentic objects, documents, film and sound fragments tell the history of people who lived through the period.

All forms of resistance are covered: from strikes, forging documents, helping people to stay in hiding, and printing underground newspapers to planning escape routes, armed resistance and espionage.

The exhibition tells a chronological story from approximately 1930 to 1950, from the indolent Dutch society of the thirties through the shock of invasion and into occupation, resistance and ultimately liberation.
