oin us to celebrate the opening of Freedom, Theatre, and the Oppressed* starting on Liberation Day - 5 May 2015- with screenings and performances by The Freedom Theatre.
In Palestine, the threat of imprisonment, death and destruction are part of life and the legacy of decades under occupation. But in the Palestinian refugee camp of Jenin, The Freedom Theatre’s response to instability and violence is creativity. The exhibition Freedom, Theatre, and the Oppressed places the struggle of The Freedom Theatre in its global context, focusing on movements around the world that have used theatre as a form resistance.

Wednesday 6 May 20.00 -22.00: Screening Journey of a Freedom Fighter and Q&A with The Freedom Theatre moderated by Katrien van Beurden of Theatre Hotel Courage at the Prince Claus Fund Gallery. Entrance Free, English spoken. RSVP here
Thursday 7 May: Performance 'Courage, Ouda, Courage' – The Freedom Theatre in collaboration with Theatre Hotel Courage. Time/Location TBD. Please keep an eye on our website for updates.
* The exhibition title refers to the performance methodology ‘Theatre of the Oppressed’ founded by Prince Claus Laureate Augusto Boal (1931-2009), in which the audience actively participates in the performance to reflect on and eventually transform their own lives.
